## Writing Styles

AudioPen can rewrite your voice note in multiple styles. The style library covers everyday writing, such as Clear & Simple, Casual Email, Formal Email, Business Memo, Book Notes, List, Kid Friendly, Humorous, and Legal, with more grouped under social media, storytelling, and specialized use. Users can also create custom writing styles, by describing a style in a sentence or by giving AudioPen a sample of writing to imitate. The output can be in a different language than what you spoke.

Voice typing inside other apps works on Mac and Windows (hotkey), iPhone and iPad (the AudioPen keyboard, which can type, swipe, and talk, and can be set as the default keyboard), and Android (a floating bubble that appears whenever the keyboard does).

A single AudioPen Prime account works across all platforms. Log in to the same account on any device and everything syncs.

## AudioPen for Mac and Windows (Detailed)

AudioPen has native desktop apps for Mac (Apple Silicon, M1 or later) and Windows. They are the same product with the same features, including voice typing. Both have two primary modes:

### Voice Typing Mode

Voice typing is the primary mode on the desktop apps. It lets you speak into any text field on your computer. Press a hot key, talk, and text is inserted at your cursor. There is no separate app window to switch to. It works in Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Docs, VS Code, Jira, social media, web forms, and any app with a text field.

Voice typing has two sub-modes:

**Hot Key Press Mode (fastest):**
- Press and hold the hot key to speak. Release when done.
- Clean, formatted text is inserted directly into the active text field.
- Best for quick replies, search queries, and anything where speed matters most.

**AI Rewrite Mode (polished and styled):**
- Double-tap the hot key to start speaking. Tap again when finished.
- The rewriting step happens in the cloud, but nothing is saved. Data is processed and immediately discarded.
- Text is rewritten in a style of your choice, then inserted at your cursor.
- Best for emails, long-form writing, and anything where tone and clarity matter.

**Choosing how voice typing transcribes:**
- There is always an offline option. Turn it on and transcription runs on your device, so audio never leaves the machine.
- You can also pick cloud transcription. The choice is yours, and you can change it.

### Notes Mode (on desktop)

Triple-tap the hotkey to record a thought and save it to your AudioPen notes library. It gets processed just like it does on the web, classic AudioPen style. Notes sync across devices, so you can pick them up on web, iOS, or Android. Notes are transcribed on your device or in the cloud, depending on your setting. With the offline option on, the audio never leaves your computer. With cloud transcription, the audio is uploaded and deleted within 48 hours. The AI rewrite runs in the cloud either way.

## Privacy and Security

AudioPen takes privacy seriously. Here are the specifics per mode:

**Voice typing on Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android:**
- You choose how transcription runs. There is always an offline option, and with it turned on, audio is processed on your device and never leaves the machine.
- If you choose cloud transcription instead, audio is sent for processing and is not stored.

**Voice typing in AI Rewrite mode:**
- The rewriting step sends text to the cloud whichever transcription option you pick, but none of the data is stored. It is processed and immediately discarded.

**Notes in the iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, and Windows apps:**
- You choose how notes are transcribed. With the offline option on, audio is transcribed on your device and never leaves it.

## AudioPen for ChatGPT

The official AudioPen plugin for ChatGPT lets ChatGPT search and read your AudioPen notes while you chat. There is no Developer mode or server URL to set up. ChatGPT can search your notes by keyword (note text, titles, original voice transcripts, tag names and folder names), list your tags and folders, and read a note in full with its original transcript. ## AudioPen for Notion

The AudioPen Notion connector puts your AudioPen notes in Notion automatically. Talk it out in AudioPen, and a clean, tagged note lands in Notion about a minute later. Connect once at https://notion.audiopen.ai: sign in with your AudioPen email and a one-time code, then pick a Notion page. AudioPen creates an "AudioPen Notes" database in that page. Each note becomes a page in the database, with AudioPen's cleaned-up text as the body and the original transcript in a toggle underneath. Title, Folder, Tags, Created and Updated are database columns, ready for board, calendar and filtered views. Existing notes are copied when you connect; after that, new and edited notes arrive about a minute after you finish them, from any device. A page you edit in Notion is never overwritten. The connector only reads from AudioPen and never changes anything in your AudioPen account. Notes deleted in AudioPen keep their page in Notion. Disconnect in Notion under Settings, then Connections. Install it in Obsidian under Settings, Community plugins, Browse (search for AudioPen), or from https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/audiopen, then sign in with your AudioPen email and a one-time code. **Is there a native mobile app for AudioPen?**
