AudioPen for lawyers

Draft memos and briefs by talking.

You think through the argument out loud anyway. AudioPen turns that into a clean, structured draft in precise language, so you spend less time typing and more time on the work that matters.

Where the time goes

The thinking is fast. The writing is slow.

You already know the argument. Turning it into a tight memo or a clean clause is the part that eats the afternoon. Plain dictation does not help much, because it hands back every false start exactly as you said it.

Speak it into AudioPen instead. It transcribes what you said, then restructures it into precise, organized language you can refine. The first draft is done before you have opened a blank document.

How lawyers use it

From spoken thought to clean draft.

Memos and briefs

Talk through the argument and get a structured first draft in clear, precise language.

Contract language

Dictate a clause the way you would explain it, and let AudioPen tighten it into something you can edit down.

Post meeting notes

After a call or a meeting you could not record, dictate what was decided and what is still open. Five minutes becomes a clean record.

It writes the way you do

Precise language, your style.

AudioPen has a built-in Legal style that outputs in formal, structured, precise language straight away. You can also go further. Upload a sample of your own work, a memo you rate or a brief you are proud of, and AudioPen builds a custom style from it. Every dictation then comes back sounding like you wrote it on a careful day.

You control how much it changes. A light edit fixes the grammar and leaves your structure alone. A full restructure turns a rambling call debrief into a tight, organized summary. The intensity is yours to set, and you can change it note by note.

Output language is independent from your style. Speak in one of 58 languages and write the output in any other. Useful for international matters or multilingual clients.

Handling sensitive work

Private where it counts.

On Mac and iPhone, transcription can run fully on your device when you enable offline mode. When this option is on, audio is processed locally and does not pass through any server. When you save a note, audio is uploaded for processing and then deleted automatically. Your notes are never used to train AI models, and all data is encrypted at rest.

Your writing stays yours. Nothing is shared with other users. Nothing is retained after processing.

FAQ

Common questions

Is AudioPen private enough for legal work?
On Mac and iPhone, transcription can run fully on your device when you enable offline mode, so audio is processed locally. When you save a note, audio is uploaded for processing and then deleted automatically. Your notes are never used to train AI models, and all data is encrypted at rest.
Can I create a custom legal writing style?
Yes. AudioPen has a built-in Legal style that outputs in formal, structured, precise language. You can also build your own: upload a sample of your own work, a memo or brief you rate, and AudioPen learns your phrasing and builds a custom style from it. After that, every dictation comes back sounding like you wrote it.
Can I dictate long documents?
Yes. Record in chunks, pause to think, and keep going. AudioPen stitches the segments together. On Prime each recording runs up to 15 minutes, and you can combine saved notes into one summary.
Can I combine notes from multiple sources?
Yes. SuperSummaries let you select several saved notes and merge them into one document. Useful for gathering research, call notes, and reference material into a single draft. This is a Prime feature.
Does it just transcribe, or edit too?
Both, and you decide. Keep the plain transcript, or have AudioPen restructure it into precise, organized language.
What devices does it work on?
The web, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, and a Chrome extension. There is no Windows app at the moment.
Does it connect to other tools?
Yes. AudioPen connects to Zapier, so you can send notes automatically to Notion, Google Docs, or other tools. Webhooks are also available. Both are Prime features.
What does it cost?
There is a free tier. Prime is a one time payment from $99 a year, with no subscription and no auto renewal.
