AudioPen + Zapier
Say it once. Zapier sends the note to your apps.
Talk through your stand-up on the walk in, and Zapier posts it to your team's Slack channel, written up and ready to read. AudioPen connects to Zapier, so each new note can go straight to Slack, Google Docs, Sheets or thousands of other apps.
Needs AudioPen Prime. Works on Zapier's free plan.
A stand-up update recorded in AudioPen shows up in the #team channel in Slack, posted by Zapier, with the note's title in bold and the note under it. Next an idea is posted, then notes from a call.
Set up once
One key, one Zap.
AudioPen has one trigger on Zapier: New Note. Every new note starts it.
1. Create an API key in AudioPen
In AudioPen, open Settings, then Integrations, then Zapier, and select Create API Key. Copy the key.2. Start a Zap with AudioPen
In Zapier, make a new Zap. Choose AudioPen as the trigger app and New Note as the event, then paste your key to connect your account.3. Test with a recent note
Zapier pulls in a recent note to test with. If none shows up, make a short note in AudioPen and test again.4. Choose where the note goes
Pick the app and the action, such as Slack and Send Channel Message, fill its fields from the note, then publish the Zap.
Already in Zapier? Start from AudioPen's page on Zapier.
Example: Slack
Post each note to a Slack channel.
Your team reads a clean post, not a voice memo they have to play.
Each note comes into the Zap with its title, the note AudioPen wrote, your original transcript and when you made it. For Slack, the title and the note are all you need.
- Trigger
- AudioPen, New Note.
- Action
- Slack, Send Channel Message, to the channel your team reads, like #standup.
- Message text
- The note's title in bold, then the note itself.
Rather keep it to yourself? Use Send Direct Message instead and send each note to yourself. Your Slack becomes a private inbox of everything you talked through, ready to forward.
Example: Google Docs
Turn notes into Google Docs.
A new doc for each note
Use Create Document From Text. Set the Document Name to the note's title and the Document Content to the note. Add the original transcript underneath if you want your exact words close by. Good for drafts you'll edit and share: a blog post, a memo, a proposal. One running doc
Use Append Text to Document and point it at one doc. Each note lands at the end, under the last one. Good for a journal, a meeting log or a book you're drafting one walk at a time.
More ideas
Two more Zaps worth making.
A sheet of every note
Add a Google Sheets row for each new note, with the date, title and note in their own columns. You get a log you can sort, search and count.Gmail drafts waiting for you
Create a Gmail draft from each new note. Talk through the reply, and the draft is waiting in Gmail when you get back to your desk. Check it and send.
When you don't need a Zap
Some apps connect directly.
For Notion and Obsidian, skip Zapier and use the Notion connector or the Obsidian plugin. Both need AudioPen Prime to sync, and the Obsidian plugin is free to install.
Building your own tool? Webhooks send each new note to a URL you choose, as JSON.
