Yes. The free tier is the real product with limits, not a demo. Recordings can be up to three minutes long, and each one is transcribed and rewritten in the style of your choice. You can use every writing style on the free plan, including the ones you create. Voice typing is included too, with a limited number of sessions.

Prime lifts the limits: unlimited recordings of up to 15 minutes, unlimited voice typing, unlimited note storage, and the features free does not include, which are audio file uploads, text note processing, rewriting notes you have already saved, combining notes into SuperSummaries, and the AudioPen MCP.

Built in dictation hands back your words exactly as you said them, including the ums, the false starts and the sentence you began twice. That is fine for a quick note to yourself. It reads badly in an email to someone else. Here is how to draft emails by talking and still sound like you.

AudioPen transcribes what you said and then rewrites it into clear, structured text in a style you choose. The rewriting is the part the built in tools do not do. You can still keep the plain transcript when that is all you need.

That is the normal way to use AudioPen. Half sentences, tangents, long pauses and corrections are all fine. Say the wrong thing, say "actually, scratch that", and carry on.

AudioPen works out what you meant and writes that down. You do not have to compose the sentence in your head before you say it out loud.

AudioPen does not generate content that is not yours. It takes what you actually said and rewrites it, so the ideas, the examples and the details all came from you.

You can go further and create your own writing styles, including ones based on writing you have already done, so the output matches how you normally sound. Or if you'd rather sound like your favorite author, you can provide a sample of their writing and ask AudioPen to mimic their style.

Also, you can decide how much AudioPen edits your text. Set the rewrite level to Low, Medium, or High, depending on how much editing you want.

Yes you can. On iPhone & iPad, AudioPen has its own keyboard, so you can type, as well as talk and use the power of AudioPen inside any app. On Android devices, the AudioPen floating bubble appears whenever your keyboard does. You can tap it to have it work the magic of AudioPen from wherever you are.

On Mac (M1 or later), and Windows, press a hotkey and type with your voice in any style, inside any app. Try it once, and it will change the way you interact with your device.

Yes. AudioPen understands nearly any spoken language, and it can write in nearly any language too.

The two do not have to match. Speak in the language you think in and have the note written in another, so you can dictate in Spanish and send the email in English. Head into settings to change the output language.

Audio from voice notes is deleted from our servers within 48 hours. Voice typing audio is never saved at all, even when it is transcribed in the cloud. All of your data is also encrypted at rest, never shared with any other user, and never used to train any AI.

For even more privacy, turn on offline transcription in the iPhone and Android apps or in the Mac and Windows apps. It works for voice typing and for notes, and the audio never leaves your device.

Up to three minutes per note on the free tier, and up to 15 minutes per note on Prime. If you have longer recordings from elsewhere, Prime users can upload audio files of up to 100MB each instead of re-recording.

Yes, that is what AudioPen is for. Record a voice note in the app and it comes back as clean, readable text, with the original transcript kept alongside it.

If the voice note was recorded somewhere else, on your phone's voice memo app for example, Prime users can upload the file and AudioPen will convert it the same way.

For a quick recording without an account, use the free online voice recorder. It runs in your browser and saves recordings of up to 15 minutes as MP3s. In Chrome and Safari, it also shows a rough transcript while you talk.

To get a transcript of an audio file you already have, use the free audio to text converter. It takes MP3, M4A, WAV and other audio files of up to 60 minutes, with no account needed.

Any app with a text field. Gmail, Slack, Notion, Google Docs, your code editor, your CRM, the message box on your phone. There is nothing to plug in or connect, because AudioPen types wherever your cursor already is.

Yes. Prime users can upload up to 100 audio files every 4 weeks, with a maximum file size of 100MB each, on the web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, and iPad.

Most common formats work, including MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, MP4, OGG, and WebM. AudioPen runs the file through the same transcribe-and-rewrite step as a live recording, so you get finished text back in the style you choose, not just a raw transcript.

Not for transcription. The iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows apps give you an offline option for voice typing and for notes. Turn it on and transcription runs on your device, so the audio never leaves it. You can pick cloud transcription instead, and the choice is yours on each device.

The AI rewrite step does need a connection, because it runs in the cloud. When you voice type, nothing from it is stored. The web app and the Chrome extension always transcribe in the cloud.

Yes. AudioPen works with almost any accent. It uses modern transcription models built to handle a wide range of speech.

No special hardware. The microphone already in your laptop, your phone or your earbuds is enough, and AudioPen uses modern transcription models that handle everyday background noise.

A loud cafe or a car with the windows down will cost you some accuracy, as it would with any voice tool. Somewhere reasonably quiet gives you the best results.

Yes. AudioPen connects to Zapier and supports webhooks, so a note can go to any app Zapier reaches the moment you save it.

People use this to keep a Google Sheet of every note, to drop notes into a Markdown or notes app, or to route notes with a certain tag to a particular place, such as a project folder or a team channel. Webhooks give developers the same note data as JSON for their own tools.

The AudioPen MCP gives AI assistants read-only access to your AudioPen notes. It works with any platform that supports MCP; ChatGPT and Claude are the most common.

Once it is set up, you can ask ChatGPT or Claude about anything you have saved in AudioPen, with no exporting or copying. Access is read-only: they can read your notes but cannot add, change, or delete anything. The MCP is a Prime feature.

Only what you ask it to look up. The assistant can search your notes, list your tags and folders, and read a single note in full, including its original transcript. It cannot create, edit, or delete anything, and it can only see the account you signed in with. You can disconnect at any time from the assistant's settings.

Most voice to text tools hand you a transcript and stop there. AudioPen transcribes what you say, then rewrites it into clear, structured text in the style and language you pick. The rewrite is optional. Keep the plain transcript if that is all you need.
