AudioPen for ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT about your AudioPen notes.

That idea from Tuesday's walk is somewhere in your AudioPen notes. Now ChatGPT can find it. The official AudioPen plugin lets ChatGPT search and read your notes while you chat, so you can stop pasting transcripts into the chat box. Ask what you said about a topic, or have it draft an email from a note. It can't change a word.

Part of AudioPen Prime. You don't need Developer mode or a server URL.

An example chat in ChatGPT, with made-up notes. Someone asks what they said about pricing in their AudioPen notes this week. ChatGPT searches their AudioPen notes and answers with the three notes it found, each with its day and the gist. The next chats list their tags and folders, then read back the original transcript of a note word for word.

Three steps

Install it once. Ask away.

1. Install the plugin

Open the AudioPen plugin in ChatGPT and choose Install plugin. You can also find it under Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar.

2. Sign in to AudioPen

When ChatGPT asks, choose Connect, then enter the email on your AudioPen account and the one-time code we send you.

3. Ask about your notes

Ask in any chat. ChatGPT uses AudioPen when your question needs your notes, or type @AudioPen to pick it yourself.

What ChatGPT can reach

Your notes and your own words.

Every voice note comes in two versions. There's the clean writing AudioPen made, and the transcript of what you actually said. The rewrite keeps what mattered. The transcript keeps everything, including the tangent that turned out to be the idea. ChatGPT can read both.

It only reads. ChatGPT can't create, edit or delete a note, and it only sees the account you signed in with.

Search your notes
One search covers your notes, their titles, your original voice transcripts, and your tag and folder names.
List your tags and folders
Ask what you've been thinking about lately, and ChatGPT can start from how you've sorted your notes.
Read a note in full
One note, start to finish, with the transcript underneath.

Prompts to try

Put your talking to work.

You did the thinking out loud. Here are a few ways to get it back. Copy a prompt into ChatGPT and swap in your own topic.

Find what you said

“What did I say about marketing in my AudioPen notes this week?”

Sum up a theme

“Search my AudioPen notes for ‘reading’ and summarize what you find.”

Plan tomorrow

“Find my AudioPen notes about work from this week and build a plan for tomorrow, with breaks.”

Draft from a note

“Turn my AudioPen note about the offsite into an email to the team.”

Check your exact words

“Compare my ‘Book idea’ note with its original transcript. What did the rewrite leave out?”

See what you talk about

“What do I have notes about in AudioPen? List my tags and folders.”

Your account and your data

What ChatGPT sees, and what it keeps.

Your login stays with AudioPen

You sign in on AudioPen's side, with a code we email you. ChatGPT never sees your AudioPen login.

It may ask first

Before it reads your notes, ChatGPT may ask for your OK.

OpenAI's rules apply to what it reads

AudioPen never trains AI on your notes. On Free, Go, Plus and Pro, OpenAI may train on what a plugin reads if “Improve the model for everyone” is on, so switch it off if you'd rather it didn't. On Business, Enterprise and Edu it doesn't by default. With Memory on, ChatGPT may remember relevant information it read.

Disconnect any time

In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Plugins, choose AudioPen and select Disconnect. ChatGPT can't reach your notes after that. Disconnecting doesn't automatically delete chats where it already read them.

Using Claude or another assistant? Connect it with the setup guide, or connect any MCP client to the AudioPen MCP server.

More places your notes can go.
